The following photos are from the Mattern Esquivel wedding 8/3/02 Saratoga, CA.
This is a typical setup for us, with guests numbering about 250. This photo is taken from stage for your perspective.
At this wedding, we were in the corner. Notice that we don't have ton of equipment, just electric drums right and keyboard left. There are 2 PA speakers on stands to get the sound over the chairs and direct it toward the dance floor, located in the middle of the backyard.
We were told in advance that this would not be a dancing crowd. This was not the way it went at all. Had we known just how much dancing there would be, we probably would have set up in the middle of the yard closer to the dance floor!
From stage right (or left from our angle) we have keyboard & microphone. In the center is our sound amplification equipment and mixing board. The CD player (on keyboard right) is for background music while dining. The magical voice of Josh Groban filled the air and set the mood for this course.
Stage Left (or right from our angle) we have Roland electronic drums and microphone.. This is Joe's corner. He needs about 5 to 6 feet from left to right for setup. Depth is not usually a problem. The two wedge style monitors allow us to hear our own voices and keep us from shouting while singing.
Tucked away behind us is a box-like black subwoofer, sitting on the lawn. Weddings of this size require some nice bass to get the dancers motivated. That one little sub does a great job for this.
Many thanks to Ruth and Dick Mattern, The Fairmont's kitchen and chef, caterers, At Your Request event planners and Michael & Kirsten for a truly wonderful wedding!
